Uncle Toby’s Kitchen Review

Email

If you feel like having a juicy piece of chicken, try the Pan Seared Chicken at Nu.300. This herb encrusted chicken breast packs a punch with a crunch. I love that while it is slightly crispy on the outside, the chicken still retains its juiciness inside.

Uncle Toby’s Kitchen is located off the Thimphu expressway in Babesa. They offer a convenient food delivery service, and their restaurant is located in Xpress Plaza. I like that there’s a car wash service, a spa and a gym, so you can have your car washed while having a meal, or grab a bite after a workout.

Outdoor seating is gaining popularity in Thimpu, and if space (and weather) allow, it’s a lovely place to soak up the sun.

The burnt orange and brick walled restaurant is pretty cosy. I counted five tables inside, some with inviting plump cushions, and five outdoor tables. Most of the tables are two seaters, with a few four seaters.

If you feel like having a juicy piece of chicken, try the Pan Seared Chicken at Nu.300. This herb encrusted chicken breast packs a punch with a crunch. I love that while it is slightly crispy on the outside, the chicken still retains its juiciness inside.

The chicken was slightly peppery, but flavourful. It comes with some butter stir fried broccoli and carrot, which is pleasant, but the dish would be nice with some mashed potato as a carb to balance out the meal, as the dish is otherwise not very filling.

If you prefer pasta to chicken, try the Spaghetti Bolognese (Nu.200) or the Pasta Bake (Nu. 300)

The Bolognese sauce was a tad too sweet for my liking, but the Pasta Bake had a wonderful, slightly smoky aftertaste. Although they both use a similar sauce, the one in the Pasta Bake had a slightly tart flavor which the Spaghetti Bolognese lacked. Between the two, I preferred the Pasta Bake as I feel it had a more balanced flavour.

If you’re looking for something different, try one of their signature dishes, the Shepherd’s Pie (Nu. 300).

Served with a generous amount of cheese and mashed potato, it’s no surprise that this is one of the entrees that Uncle Toby’s Kitchen is best known for.

Uncle Toby’s Kitchen is also an available option for breakfast, and I hope to be back there soon to try it!
